Friends of Hudson River Park is dedicated to protecting, completing, and sustaining the entire Hudson River Park through advocacy, coalition building, and fundraising. Founded in 1999, we represent thousands of individual and organizational members committed to securing the $200 million needed to complete this world-class park, and supporting its ongoing operations and development. When finished, this five-mile Park will extend uninterrupted along Manhattan’s West Side Waterfront from 59th Street to the Battery.
Friends works with the Hudson River Park Trust, the City-State agency responsible for building and operating the Park, and other organizations that share our interest in ensuring that the Park is completed as planned.
New York State Court Upholds Efforts of Friends
January 19, 2010
On January 12, 2010, New York State Supreme Court Judge Joan B. Lobis ruled to uphold the Friends of Hudson River Park 2005 settlement with the City of New York and the Hudson River Park Trust that set a time table for the Department of Sanitation’s departure from the Gansevoort Peninsula and Pier 97.

Pietrantone, of Friends of Hudson River Park, was gratified by the “correct ruling” but said the group, which advocates and raises funds for the five-mile-long Hudson River Park, was sympathetic to neighbors’ concerns and “hopes that a better alternative for the current plan can still be advanced.”
