A. J. took the helm of Friends of Hudson River Park in 2008, directing the organization’s advocacy, fundraising, outreach activities, and operations. He serves as chief spokesman for the group while leading our campaign to complete, sustain, and protect the Park. Pietrantone has a wide range of previous experience in both educational and environmental non-profit initiatives, including eight years as Director of Finance and Administration in the national headquarters of the Environmental Defense Fund. Immediately prior to joining Friends, he was Executive Vice President of Rosie O’Donnell’s KidRo Productions, where he also served as Managing Director of Rosie’s Broadway Kids, and Chief Operating Officer for the affiliated For All Kids Foundation. Prior to moving to New York, he served as the first Director of Finance for the Human Rights Campaign and Vice President for Administration at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. He is also a former Adjunct Professor at the New School for Management and Urban Policy in New York City, and holds an MBA from George Washington University.

Matthew manages Friends of Hudson River Park’s advocacy efforts, community programs, and policy work, including activities within the Park as well as outreach to community organizations and elected officials. Prior to joining the organization, Matthew worked for the United States Census Bureau, and for the Democratic National Committee, serving as a Campaign Coordinator on the 2004 John Kerry Presidential Campaign. He is a member of Manhattan’s Community Board 11, and has chaired the Board’s Land Use/City Properties and Economic Development committees; and serves on the Board of the New York City Chapter of the New York League of Conservation Voters. Matthew holds a Bachelor’s degree from Alfred University in Alfred, NY.

Jonathan directs Friends of Hudson River Park’s annual fundraising campaign, special events, major donors program, and corporate and foundation relations. He brings over ten years of fundraising and advocacy experience to Friends of Hudson River Park from a wide variety of organizations, including the Legal Aid Society, American Field Service Intercultural Programs, and Literacy Partners. He has experience building relationships with boards, volunteer and corporate leaders, and donors. Originally from the Tri-State area, Jonathan moved back to New York in 1999, after spending several years working with business and community leaders advancing the economic development efforts of upstate South Carolina, attracting corporate investment in the area, working with the real estate community, and encouraging corporate citizenship. Jonathan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Occidental College in California.

Allan supervises the creation and implementation of strategic communications programs designed to secure the funds needed to protect Hudson River Park’s environment and long-term sustainability. He joins Friends of Hudson River Park with broad experience in advocacy communications and journalism. A Producer for ABC’s Good Morning America for more than seven years, Allan also served in senior marketing and public affairs positions with the Foundation for Child Development, Children’s Rights, and the Environmental Defense Fund. Allan holds a Bachelor’s degree from Kean University of New Jersey.

Katie joined Friends of Hudson River Park in 2008 and has been responsible for the coordination of all our public programs and volunteer initiatives. Prior to joining the organization, Katie held positions at other non-profits where she worked on special event management and events staff coordination. Katie holds a Bachelor’s degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Liz Hadfield has been the Administrator for Friends of Hudson River Park since 2007, overseeing the organization’s human resources, equipment, accounting and administrative needs. Prior to joining the organization, she worked at The Durst Organization on projects in the Legal Department, and on internal ‘green’ policies. Liz holds a Bachelors degree from Warwick University, England.
