Art in the Park

Tables and Chairs

Tables and Chairs, located in the upland park area of the Chelsea section, was created by artists Alan and Ellen Wexler. The work is made up of two components. The first is an oversized table that provides shade to those who sit in the regular sized chairs that are positioned beneath it. The second consists of functional chairs and tables that are set in random formations and serve as a contrast to the oversized table. This is truly a functional art installation, one that not only allows visitors to view the art, but also to experience it.

Long Time

Long Time, a public art installation located on Pier 66, by artist Paul Ramirez Jonas, is a working water wheel that captures the beauty of the majestic Hudson River while harkening back to its shipping and milling history. Placed at the end of Pier 66, it turns with the tide as the river ebbs and flows. The wheel is constructed of stainless steel and has a diameter of 26 feet.
