Pier 66, reconstructed as a public park pier, opened in 2006. It includes a boatslip for sailboats, a walkway out into the river for the general public and Long Time, a huge piece of public art in the form of a giant waterwheel.  Pier 66 serves as the home of The Frying Pan, the 1929 Lightship now used as an entertainment space, and the historic John J. Harvey.  Extending three blocks north from Pier 66, the Chelsea esplanade includes a broad walking path overlooking the river and extraordinary planted gardens designed to attract and protect butterflies and other wildlife.
