Clinton Cove

Clinton Cove, located at 54th Street, is one of the most beautiful stretches of land in the Park. Encompassing two acres of open lawns, this section includes the Downtown Boathouse, the place to pick up free kayaks and canoes. Clinton Cove also features a “get-down,” a way of allowing pedestrians to walk below the bulkhead and experience the Hudson River at a closer view.

Private Passage, the first permanent public sculpture commissioned as part of Hudson River Park, is on display in Clinton Cove. A site-specific installation by artist Malcolm Cochran, Private Passage is a 30 foot long, 8’6” diameter wine bottle resting on its side that is an interpretation of a stateroom based loosely on photographs of the Queen Mary. Private Passage was created in participation with the New York City Percent for Art program, administered through the Department of Cultural Affairs.

Clinton Cove is the setting for our free sunset concerts and for the Clinton Cove Festival, our annual fall event that offers fun for the whole family that includes face painting, games, live music, and fishing, too.
