Thank you to everyone who joined us on the morning of Saturday, October 23rd, for the 3rd Annual Friends of Hudson River Park 5 mile Race to the Finish! This year's Race hosted 157 participants and helped to raise funds and awareness for the completion and upkeep of Hudson River Park.
Course Overview: Race to the Finish participants ran a circuit through Hudson River Park highlighting the sections of the Park both completed and yet to be developed. The Race began and ended in the Park's Clinton section on the popular renovated plaza on Pier 84 in sight of the aircraft carrier, Intrepid, Circle Line Sightseeing and P.D. O'Hurley's. The route took runners down past the City tow pound which will eventually be converted to parkland; past the newly opened Chelsea Cove section above Chelsea Piers; by Pier 54, where the survivors of the Titanic disaster arrived in New York City; the Gansevoort Peninsula - where the Department of Sanitation is currently making plans to vacate, and through the Greenwich Village section to the Pier 40 complex at Houston Street just above the Park's Tribeca section.
