Dear Senator/Assembly Member XXXXXX:
I'm writing as a user of Hudson River Park to ask you to include $6 million for the Park in the State’s FY10-11 budget.
Hudson River Park has been a phenomenal success since its first section opened in 2003. It’s used daily by children and families, sunbathers and picnickers, runners and skaters, as well as bikers and boaters. The playgrounds, grass lawns and pathways along the River all make up a world-class waterfront Park for the entire region to enjoy.
Despite the great variety of activities that over 17 million people experience each year in Hudson River Park, there is still much work to be done and the Park needs more resources to be completed. The Executive budget proposal of only $3 million for Hudson River Park is inadequate to keep construction going, and to protect associated jobs from being lost.
It is for this purpose that I ask you to make sure Hudson River Park receives $6 million in the budget. The State needs to live up to its commitment to keep this project moving --and only this $6 million appropriation can prevent it from being stalled.
Thank you for your consideration of this request and for your commitment to Hudson River Park.
Sincerely,
Your Name
