Rally For Hudson Rise

October 15, 2009
AJ Pietrantone with
Mayoral Candidate Bill Thompson
Friends’ Executive Director A.J. Pietrantone spoke on October 15th, at the Community Rally for Hudson Rise, the alternative proposal for a more economical, neighborhood-friendly and sustainable sanitation garage in lower Manhattan.

Attendees heard about the City’s flawed proposal to spend half a billion dollars on the Spring Street Garage, a two-block long, 138' high maintenance facility and parking garage for garbage trucks and an 8,000 ton salt shed across the street, less than a block from a residential building and why the AIA award-winning alternative is better for Hudson River Park.
